All NYCOSH members receive:
- Safety Rep, the quarterly NYCOSH newsletter, featuring reports
on activity in occupational safety and health and analysis
of current trends,
- The NYCOSH Clipping File,
including articles from newspapers, magazines, professional
journals and union publications,
- Updates about pending legislation
affecting the health and safety of workers in New York State
and elsewhere,
- Invitations to NYCOSH conferences,
lectures and forums. Topics addressed at recent NYCOSH events
include repetitive strain injuries and the draft OSHA Ergonomics
Standard, workers' compensation law and safer needles,
- Access to the NYCOSH Resource
Center, a library of thousands of reference books, reports,
professional publications and other health and safety documents,
- A chance to participate on
NYCOSH Committees -- groups of health and safety activists
working together for change in specific areas, such as workers'
compensation and infectious disease.
NYCOSH also offers all local
union members:
- Health and safety training on topics of particular concern to workers, including
computer hazards, state and federal Right-to-Know laws and
regulations, and methods for identifying toxic substances
such as asbestos.
- Technical assistance and information for health and safety committees,
union leaders and stewards and a health and safety Hotline
for problems that require immediate answers.
- Consultations and on-site
evaluations to help
solve unique problems and to help develop strategies for
winning important health and safety victories -- including
formation of health and safety committees.
- Contract language assistance
drafting health
and safety language for upcoming collective bargaining agreements.
NYCOSH welcomes both union organizations
